OP 7200: Spinal Orthotics

3 Credit Hours
Concurrent: OP 7200L  
This course presents comprehensive orthotic patient care management of the spine and cranium. The knowledge of the orthotic care of each device includes a variety of conventional metal/composite frames and thermoplastic spinal and cranial orthoses.

Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: 

  1. Develop the knowledge to safely provide appropriate orthotic treatment interventions for persons with dysfunction of the cranium, spine and/or pelvis.
  2. Formulate a prescription and recommend a treatment plan for patients who require spinal orthotic intervention.
  3. Determine the clinical patient assessment and apply orthotic treatment principles based on topic-specific content.
  4. Generate the proper billing and procedure codes and medical documentation required for clinical practice.
