OP 7550: Research Seminar in Prosthetics and Orthotics II

1 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: OP 6950  
This seminar focuses on presenting pilot data and preparing a scientific abstract.  Students present progress reports, discuss current problems, and propose solutions. Students develop a research proposal focusing on the following areas: specific aims, hypotheses, methods, data analysis, and the interpretation of results.  

Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: 

  1. Describe and interpret the importance that a basic knowledge of research has on clinical practice. 

  1. Collect and prepare a written literature review that differentiates important informational data on a relevant research topic. 

  1. Prepare a scientific abstract for a poster or oral presentation at a regional or national professional meeting. 

  1. Describe, analyze and differentiate a clinically important topic (Clinically Appraised Topic) and prepare a written report. 

  1. Organize, manage and prepare a research proposal plan and schedule. 

  1. Plan, prepare and present research progress reports.
