ES 6550: Advanced Clinical Exercise Physiology 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: ES 6510 Examination of the mechanisms of cardiopulmonary dynamics and metabolic function at rest and during exercise in healthy and associated diseased populations.
Course Learning Outcomes Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
1. Discuss general and advanced physiological functions and controls of the cardiorespiratory system.
2. Evaluate health appraisals and risk stratifications strategies for individuals with chronic disease.
3. Identify and discuss pathophysiologic manifestations in the cardiorespiratory system related to most common chronic diseases.
4. Analyze and design lifestyle intervention strategies for management of chronic diseases.
5. Evaluate and interpret Electrocardiography (ECG) tracing in healthy individuals and those with common manifestations of cardiovascular disease.
6. Design and interpret exercise programming for individuals with chronic diseases.
