Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

1. Distinguish between the biochemical pathways involved in anaerobic and aerobic production of ATP at rest and during exercise.

2. Describe the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system and its responses to exercise.

3. Describe the concepts associated with measurement of energy expenditure using direct and indirect calorimetry.

4. Calculate energy expenditure of various activities using metabolic calculations.

5. Explain the physiology of the gas exchange system and the respiratory responses to exercise.

6. Summarize the chain of events that occur during muscular contraction.

7. Interpret literature on current exercise physiology topics.
