MUED 4301: Elementary Methods, Materials, and Curriculum 3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: MUSI 3122 and admission to the Teacher Education Program. The development of specific teaching skills, techniques, and materials to support the role of the elementary/general music teacher. The course prepares pre-service teachers for all aspects of the role including curriculum design and the incorporation of a wide variety of methodologies into classroom instruction. Field component and peer teaching required. This course is a requirement for all music education majors.
Notes: Teacher education coursework involving field and clinical experiences require verification of liability insurance and a current GaPSC Pre-Service Certificate issued through enrollment in a KSU program.
Course Learning Outcomes Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills sufficient to work as a leader and in collaboration on matters of musical interpretation, including performance of rehearsal and conducting skills appropriate to the particular music concentration.
- Demonstrate understanding of music education skills including curricular, pedagogical, and classroom management concepts appropriate for state licensure as a P-12 music educator.
