HPS 3777 - Economics of Sport3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: HPS 2200, ECON 2100 and admission to the program or instructor’s consent. The primary purpose of this course is to familiarize students with economic principles related to the sport industry. Students will study how societies use resources to produce commodities in sport. The course will focus on issues involved in the organization of sports and the economics of amateur, collegiate, professional, and Olympic sports. Students will also be exposed to other parts of the sport industry including youth sport, recreational sport, international sport, and the sporting goods industry as they relate to the economy.
