Program Description
The post-master’s nurse educator certificate program prepares professional nurses who have completed a graduate degree with teaching and learning theory that is grounded in contemporary nursing practice. The graduate of this program will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to teach and lead in academic and healthcare settings and will be eligible to complete the Certified Nurse Educator exam offered by the National League for Nursing.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this program will be able to:
- Integrate social, organizational, ethical, cultural and leadership influences in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of educational programs for healthcare.
- Synthesize knowledge from nursing, related sciences, humanities, and educational principles of teaching and learning in the implementation of nurse educator role in academic or clinical setting.
- Apply key curriculum theories, concepts, and models to the development of a curriculum or programs in nursing education academic or practice settings.
- Appraise the efficacy of selected technology integration in meeting student learning needs in the clinical, classroom and online setting.

Admissions, Enrollment, and Graduation Criteria
Admissions Criteria
The following are program-specific criteria beyond the general Graduate Admissions requirements. To be considered for admission to this program, the following application materials must be submitted to the KSU Graduate Admissions Office:
- Students must have earned a Graduate Degree in Nursing.
- Students enrolled in the certificate program should have completed advanced physical assessment (NURS 7735 ), advanced pharmacology (NURS 7755 ), and advanced pathophysiology (NURS 7765 ).
Enrollment Criteria
This program does not have specific enrollment requirements.
Graduation Criteria
Each student is expected to meet the requirements outlined in Academic Policy 5.0 PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS & GRADUATION .
