Program Description
The M.A. with a major in Integrated Global Communication (MAIGC) at Kennesaw State University is a professional-oriented, 30-hour graduate program that prepares students for careers in globally-integrated organizations. The MAIGC offers an innovative curriculum that balances theory and skills, a cohort model that builds collaboration and leadership, and a one-of-a-kind Summer Engagement Abroad Module that sends students abroad to study, observe, or work with communication professionals in another country.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this program will be able to:
- Analyze current global situations, issues, and industry trends using scholarly communication theories, models, and concepts.
- Explain principles and concepts of practicing public relations globally, including cultural, political, and economic considerations.
- Develop a strategic communication plan for a global organization or multicultural publics, including exploratory research and brand messaging.
- Appraise the effectiveness of organizational communication practices in multinational corporations, including negotiation, intercultural communication, and international team building.
- Develop a proposal for a scholarly or professional research study that addresses a current issue or situation in global communication, including an introduction, literature review, and proposed method of data collection.
- Analyze global communication in situ during an approved Summer Education Abroad Module project, through one of the following formats:
- a professional practicum at a global organization,
- a directed study of global communication,
- an on-site faculty-led study tour, or
- study abroad program.
- Complete either a professional project suitable for presentation to a selected client or the professional community, or a scholarly research project ready for submission to a scholarly journal or academic conference.

Admissions, Enrollment, and Graduation Criteria
Admissions Criteria
The following are program-specific criteria beyond the general Graduate Admissions requirements. To be considered for admission to this program, the following application materials must be submitted to the KSU Graduate Admissions Office:
- Letter of Application (Can be uploaded into the online application) - Should state the importance of M.A. in Integrated Global Communications in achieving your career goals.
- Essay (Can be uploaded into the online application) - Why does global communication interest you? Provide a brief statement addressing the formation of your multicultural or global interests and a description of tentative plans for research (specific problems or general areas) in the MAIGC program. (500 words)
- Resume (Can be uploaded into the online application)
- Letters of Recommendation (3) (Can be sent electronically through the online application) - Should be academic and at least one from professional
- Recommended GPA of 3.00 or higher.
Admission Criteria for Unique Cases
Prior experience in communication is preferred, but excellent applicants without communication-related experience will be considered.
Transfer Credit
The transfer of up to 25% of credit for course work completed at another institution will be reviewed on an individual basis by the program director.
Enrollment Criteria
This program does not have specific enrollment criteria; however, students are expected to meet the requirements of Academic Policy 4.0 ACADEMIC STANDING, DISMISSAL, & REINSTATEMENT .
Graduation Criteria
Each student is expected to meet the requirements outlined in Academic Policy 5.0 PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS & GRADUATION .
