Program Description 

The Human Resources Management Minor is designed for Management majors and other business majors in Coles College of Business, as well as majors who are part of the Coles partner program. This minor complements a student’s major with courses that increase knowledge of the essential organizational functions of human resources.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete this program will be able to: 

  1. Learn how human resource policies and systems can impact employee perceptions, attitudes, and motivation as well as the role of group dynamics, leadership and diversity.
  2. Develop an evidence-based perspective on the management of key human resource functions and activities.
  3. Gain a comprehensive understanding of employee and labor relations as well as the impact of employee and labor relations practices on individual and organizational productivity and goal attainment.
  4. Learn about the activities involved in identifying, attracting, and hiring a workforce that meets the needs of the organization as well as the activities aimed at retaining talent, addressing performance expectations, and creating a thriving and engaged workforce.
  5. Learn about the design and implementation of a variety of compensation systems and benefit packages to attract and retain employees, as well as the importance of compliance surrounding all employee rewards.

This program does not have specific enrollment requirements. 

Graduation Criteria

Each student is expected to meet the requirements outlined in Academic Policy 5.0 PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS & GRADUATION .
