Program Description

FinTech is an area composed of the intersection of financial services and technology. Many disruptive technologies such as business analytics, mobile banking, and mobile trading have been applied in the financial services sector to create new and improved products and to increase efficiency. Students in this minor will learn how to leverage technology to create and improve financial services.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete this program will be able to:

  1. Understand new business models in various areas of payments, banking, insurance and management.
  2. Understand how Big Data, machine learning and artificial intelligence impact the FinTech industry.
  3. Understand why FinTech is a welcome innovation that has the opportunity to progress society both through job creation and financial inclusion for financially excluded populations of the world.
  4. Examine the information security threats faced by the FinTech industry.
  5. Analyze how competing interests may influence the way FinTech reshapes traditional banking.
  6. Explore who is currently adopting and driving financial innovations using real-world examples to assess the changes, disruption and adaptations resulting from the rise of FinTech solutions.

This program does not have specific enrollment requirements. 

Graduation Criteria
