Program Description

The Peace and Justice Studies Minor serves students who wish to pursue a life dedicated to a more just and peaceful world. This interdisciplinary program prepares students for careers in a wide range of professions, including those in human relations, veteran affairs, patient care, academic services, child services, government and law, nonprofit organizations with community- and regionally-focused objectives, and non-governmental organizations dedicated to transforming international conflict. The minor also helps students prepare for advanced studies in political science, international relations, conflict management, public administration, and a host of other subjects.

The Peace and Justice Studies Minor program consists of 15 credit hours of undergraduate study across disciplines. The courses may be taken in any order. A minimum of six hours in the minor must be taken in residence at Kennesaw State University.

Students cannot satisfy General Education Core IMPACTS requirements with LALS 1102: Understanding Latin America .

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete this program will be able to: 

  1. Identify and apply key theories and methods of Peace and Justice Studies, including the connection between peace and justice 
  2. Articulate orally and in writing major theories about the causes of violence and the necessary conditions for peace and justice. 
  3. Explain theories and models of nonviolence and restorative justice in relation to real-world global conflicts.  
  4. Analyze peacebuilding methods at different levels from interpersonal to global.

Admissions Criteria

Admission to this program is open to all students who meet Kennesaw State University’s general admission standards. Visit the Admissions  section of the Catalog for more details.

Enrollment Criteria

This program does not have specific enrollment criteria; however, students are expected to meet the requirements of Academic Policy 4.0 ACADEMIC STANDING, DISMISSAL, & REINSTATEMENT .

Graduation Criteria

Each student is expected to meet the requirements outlined in Academic Policy 5.0 PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS & GRADUATION .
