Program Description
The School of Accountancy aspires to be a nationally recognized leader in influencing the accounting profession by educating our students, performing relevant research, and engaging with the profession.
Accounting provides the tools to measure, interpret, and communicate economic information for decision-making. A basic understanding of financial and managerial accounting information is necessary for all business majors. The Accounting Minor expands their knowledge of accounting. A student’s technical, communication, computer, critical-thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills are strengthened through accounting coursework.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this program will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the rules, applications, and financial output formats of various accounting information processses.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of appropriate accounting controls, and their importance in their ability to provide useful information to users in the decision-making process.
- Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and application of relevant technologies used in accounting processes.
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze and evaluate decision alternatives and compare and contrast them to reach a defensible solution.
- Demonstrate the ability to recognize and describe potential ethics-based situations on the preparation and presentation of accounting information.
- Recognize potential ethical dilemmas and develop appropriate resolutions on the basis of an established ethical framework.
- Demonstate the effective use of technology in the course of preparing and disseminating decision-useful accounting information.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate useful accounting information to stakeholders in a written, oral, graphic, and/or interpersonal format that can influence decision-making.
- Demonstrate professional collaboration in a team or group environment.

Admissions, Enrollment, and Graduation Criteria
Admissions Criteria
Admission to this program is open to all students who meet Kennesaw State University’s general admission standards. Visit the Admissions section of the Catalog for more details.
Enrollment Criteria
Students completing an Accounting Minor must earn grades of “B” or higher in ACCT 2101 and ACCT 2102 (ACCT 2101 is a prerequisite to ACCT 2102), and grades of “C” or higher in all other accounting courses.
Graduation Criteria
Each student is expected to meet the requirements outlined in Academic Policy 5.0 PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS & GRADUATION .
