The Coaching Minor offered through the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Sport Science is based on the Coaching Education National Standards issued by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education. This program is designed to prepare future coaches in a variety of sport settings. The Minor begins with three foundational courses followed by advanced sport-specific coaching methodology courses and the opportunity to complete a coaching practicum in a sport setting. The Coaching Minor:
- prepares students with the knowledge and skills to work in a coaching environment
- expands the credentials of students entering the Teacher Education profession
- provides training and enhances marketability for graduates in all academic disciplines who might seek coaching and teaching positions at public or private school settings
