MGT 7101: Agribusiness Strategy and Rural Development 3 Credit Hours Developing strategic management skills for agribusinesses and rural development projects is essential for sustainable success. This course will explore topics pertaining to: public policy, corporate social responsibility, supply chain management, micro finance and rural marketing strategies. This course will include a field project that encompasses one week in a rural setting, where students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in the field.
Note: One week field project is required for the successful completion of this course. Project is arranged by the program and will take place in a rural setting within the State of Georgia. Students are responsible for the lodging expense.
Course Learning Outcomes Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Analyze and evaluate how markets function.
- Analyze and evaluate factors that affect agricultural output, income distribution and health outcomes in rural areas.
- Analyze and evaluate the importance of capital markets in rural development.
- Critically analyze the interaction between political and institutional factors and the functioning of the market in the context of rural markets.
