DS 7020: Introductory SAS Programming for Data Science

3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: Admission to the Data Science and Analytics, MS program
Students will learn how to use SAS programming for data science and analytics tasks such as data importation, manipulation, summarization, and communication through various means at both an introductory and intermediate level.

Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: 

  1. Import data of various file types (e.g., CSV, XLSX, TXT).
  2. Evaluate data structure through various means (e.g., PROC CONTENTS, PROC PRINT).
  3. Manipulate data tables in various ways, which may include column selection, row filtering, BY group processing, and DO loops.
  4. Interpret common error messages and learn how to correct them.
  5. Produce reports using ODS statements which include output from SAS procedures.
