TLED 9950: Teacher Leadership Dissertation Research Seminar 2 Credit Hours Prerequisite: Advancement to Doctoral Candidacy. The course provides an in-depth exploration of advanced research techniques, including interviewing, sampling, quantitative data analysis, and qualitative data analysis. Students will receive hands-on experience in managing a research project, analyzing data, and presenting their findings in a scholarly manner. This course is essential for doctoral candidates aiming to produce rigorous, high-impact research that contributes to their field.
Note: This doctoral course is designed to be taken for a total of 6 credit hours to guide students through the comprehensive process of completing their dissertation, including project formation, Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval, and progressing through data collection, analysis, and writing of dissertation Chapters 4 and 5.
Course Learning Outcomes Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to navigate the IRB process, ensuring all research activities comply with ethical guidelines and institutional requirements.
- Develop and execute effective data collection plans, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methods tailored to their research questions.
- Apply appropriate sampling strategies to ensure the representativeness and reliability of their data.
- Skillfully conduct interviews, manage qualitative data, and employ coding techniques to extract meaningful themes and insights.
- Utilize advanced statistical methods and software tools to analyze quantitative data and interpret results.
- Synthesize findings from qualitative and quantitative data to provide a comprehensive analysis.
- Compose and refine chapters 4 (Results) and 5 (Discussion and Conclusion) of their dissertation, effectively presenting their findings and implications.
- Communicate research findings clearly and persuasively, both in written and oral formats, suitable for academic and professional audiences.
