OP 6500: Clinical Practicum in Prosthetics and Orthotics I 1 Credit Hours This is the first of four clinical practicum courses designed to provide students with real-world exposure to prosthetic, orthotic, and general medicine practice through off-site clinical rotations. Through class instruction, students perform exercises to practice and improve their patient interaction skills and how to prepare appropriate documentation for their clinical interactions.
Course Learning Outcomes Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

Lead a clinical appointment and building patient rapport.

Evaluate a patient for a lower extremity orthosis.

Formulate a prescription and recommending a treatment plan.

Create the correct documentation for a clinical interaction and treatment plan, including determining billing and procedure codes.

Employ safe clinical practices (i.e., proper use of equipment and tools for clinical patient assessment, universal precautions, PPE, etc.).
