OP 6400L: Introduction to Prosthetics Laboratory 2 Credit Hours This laboratory course introduces the field of prosthetics with a focus on lower-limb devices. The course covers how lower limb prostheses are constructed and adapted. Students are introduced to the design aspects of lower limb prostheses, including socket designs, interfaces, suspensions and components.
Course Learning Outcomes Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Complete assembly of a prosthesis based on measurements and description.
- Relate the clinician’s role in the rehabilitation process and identify which decisions need to be made by the clinician when designing a prosthesis.
- Use appropriate terminology and language.
