ANIM 6117: Experimental Media

3 Credit Hours
This is a digital art and experimental media studio and seminar course designed to support innovative research and production at the graduate level. It will focus on investigating new technologies in digital animation, with research into current and latest technological advances and the creative application of those technologies. Students will examine various advancements in emerging animation trends and identify connections within contemporary and historical works.

Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: 

  1. Explore and evaluate new technologies in digital animation, including software, hardware, and emerging platforms. 

  2. Conduct in-depth research into current trends and developments in the field of digital animation. 

  3. Develop advanced technical skills in digital animation production within the context of experimental practices. 

  4. Experiment with innovative methods in the development of animation projects based on a strong background in technical investigation. 

  5. Foster creative problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills in the application of new technologies to animation. 

  6. Encourage students to develop their own unique artistic voice and creative vision through experimentation and exploration. 

  7. Become capable of producing strong, effective, independent Digital Animation products.
