TLED 9830: Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for Teacher Leaders

3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: Admission to the EdD in Teacher Leadership (Advanced Concentration)
This course is designed to provide teacher leaders with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to make critical curriculum and assessment decisions to help improve learning for all student subgroups. Teacher leaders will use acquired knowledge to analyze, identify gaps, and reconcile areas of the curriculum that do not meet the needs of all students.

Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  1. Possess in-depth knowledge of the discipline and curriculum structure.
  2. Understand the relationship and sequencing of programs across disciplines and grade levels to design effective professional learning.
  3. Engage teachers in collaborative planning to improve teaching and learning.
  4. Use research-informed protocols to audit curriculum and analyze student work.
  5. Lead the prioritization, mapping, and monitoring of curriculum implementation.
  6. Model exemplary instructional practices and strategies based on current research.
  7. Guide teachers in designing quality student work, lesson planning, and content delivery.
  8. Support teachers in integrating technology to enhance instruction and student learning.
  9. Guide the selection and use of assessment strategies to monitor and improve student learning.
