DS 7940: Applied Analysis Project 1-9 Credit Hours Prerequisite: Permission of the program director. Students will work with a school faculty member on a project involving data science and/or analytics techniques in application. The student and faculty member will agree upon the scope of the project and the deliverables at the beginning of the semester. The student will then work under the supervision of the faculty member to produce the agreed upon deliverables by the end of the term.
Course Learning Outcomes Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Define the goals of a project including relevant variables if approrpriate.
- Appropriately perform preliminary work which may include data cleaning/preprocessing and/or review of relevant literature.
- Use approrpriate methods to address the goals of the project.
- Appropriately interpret the results of the analysis and communicate the findings in a professional manner. The communication of the results may include white papers, poster presentations, and manuscript submissions.
