ENGL 3124: Literature and Society 3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: ENGL 1102 This course interrogates the underlying socio-political assumptions of texts and explores how they reflect and challenge social worlds. It explores representations of gender, sexuality, race/ethnicity, and social class in selected literary works, and looks at the ways in which writers incorporate these identity categories into the fabric of the text’s structural and thematic elements. The course texts cover a wide range of historical periods and genres.
