KOR 2002: Intermediate Korean II

3 Credit Hours

Prerequisite: KOR 2001  
Students continue to increase linguistic and cultural proficiency through the use of a variety of materials and activities. 


Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a novice-advanced level of proficiency in the Korean language, and they seek opportunities to strengthen their proficiency to take the second semester of the second-year Korean or an equivalent program.
  2. Identify the linguistic elements of the Korean language system, examine the changing nature of language, and analyze gaps in their own knowledge of the Korean language. 
  3. Compare the similarities and differences between the Korean language and other languages, identify the key differences in varieties of the Korean language, and seek opportunities to examine varieties of the Korean language on their own.
  4. Describe main ideas and supporting ideas when listening to people talk about familiar topics and when reading short, simple texts on familiar topics in Korean. 
  5. Write a series of simple sentences on topics of interest in Korean. 
  6. Examine the literature and culture of Korean society and apply this knowledge to interpret and reflect upon the perspectives of the Korean culture in relation to its practices and products and develop understanding of Korean culture and society.
