PSYC 3365: Psychology of Human Sexuality

3 Credit Hours

Prerequisite: PSYC 1101  and any one PSYC 3000-level course
This course is an introduction to the scientific study of human sexuality. The course focuses on the psychological, biological, interpersonal, social-cultural aspects of human sexuality and how these intersecting categories influence how human sexuality is understood and experienced. Emphasis will be given to current empirical findings/research and comprehensive sexual education. 


Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: 

  1. Identify and critique research methods associated with this field of study and apply that knowledge to evaluate sources of information about sexuality  
  2. Discuss major historical research studies regarding human sexuality.
  3. Define key terms and concepts in the study of human sexuality
  4. Label and define human sexual anatomy and physiology and discuss the psychological role in sexual arousal and functioning.
