POLS 1101: American Government 3 Credit Hours
This course examines the institutions and processes of American government and Georgia State government. Global comparisons are made between the governments of the U.S. and other modern nation-states.
Course Learning Outcomes Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Define the primary concepts and terms relating to American politics and Georgia state government.
- Describe the institutional structure of the U.S. government and illustrate how these institutions relate to one another.
- Describe the institutional structure of the Georgia state government and illustrate how these institutions relate to one another and compare/contrast to the U.S. federal government structure.
- Illustrate the role that citizens can and/or do play in American politics.
- Relate core concepts from the course to current political events.
- Compare the structures and institutions of American government with those of other countries around the world.
