DLI - 208 Online Communication, Empathy, & Constructive Feedback (SCD Components)  The ‘Online Communication, Empathy & Constructive Feedback (SCD Components)’ micro-credential represents mastery on using the pedagogy related to Instructor presence which is based on the Community of Inquiry Framework and promotes social, teaching, and cognitive presence in an online teaching and learning environment.
Upon completion of this micro-credential, learners will be able to:
- Define community of Inquiry and different kinds of presences that can be created in a course.
- Create a draft for a Welcome email for students.
- Create a communication and feedback plan for your course.
- Access the learning analytics feature in D2L to monitor learner performance and participation for D2L tools (like Discussions and Quizzes).
- Reflect upon choosing Accessibility over Accommodations for their course design.
Earning Criteria: To earn this micro-credential, learners must:
- Demonstrate their skills related to Sustainable Course Design components by sharing a Communication and Feedback Plan document which must be uploaded in the assignment section of the workshop. It should include details about the frequency of communication and at least 4 methods of communication must be listed. The feedback Plan should include details about feedback that will follow each activity or assessment and the method for the feedback must be mentioned - synchronous/asynchronous/emails (group or individual)/videos/audio messages/Generic announcements or individual plans for feedback.
Learners will also participate in a reflective discussion which will be completed in the discussion section under the topic Reflect and Share your thoughts: Presence, Accessibility and Workshop feedback.
Learners will upload screenshots (2-3) of learning analytics with redacted student information from any present or past course in D2L Skill(s):
- Constructive Feedback
- Online Communication
- Empathy
