CETL - 104 Graduate Student Professional Development: Introduction to Scholarly Teaching


The ‘Graduate Student Professional Development: Introduction to Scholarly Teaching’ micro-credential represents learner achievement through interactive webinars, activities, readings, and quizzes. This self-paced, online, 8-module course introduces domestic and international graduate students to the science and art of teaching and learning. Participants reflect upon scholarly pedagogical practices to improve student learning. They acquire knowledge and skills to apply teaching strategies on these topics: how students learn, active learning, classroom climate, assessment, lecture-discussion, learning-centered syllabus design, transparent assignment design, and student feedback and teacher reflection.
Earning Criteria:
To earn this micro-credential, learners must:

  • Complete eight asynchronous modules that include viewing eight videos that contain interactive elements.
  • Access multiple resources which address how to take a scholarly approach to teaching, focusing on the pedagogy and practices on multiple topics.
  • Complete a pre- and post-confidence self-assessment quiz about their learning.
