CSM - 201 Practical NMR Training The ‘Practical NMR Training’ micro-credential is awarded to individuals interested in supporting investigations involving NMR spectroscopy who have attended a 1-day workshop consisting of 10 hours of training. During this workshop individuals participate in alternating lecture and lab components where they learn how to independently operate high-field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) instrumentation and design and interpret chemistry projects and support investigators using this method. Key skills associated with this badge include NMR Spectroscopy, Sample Preparation, and Spectral Analysis. Earning Criteria: To earn this micro-credential, learners must:
- Complete a quiz documenting a theoretical understanding and knowledge of spin physics, hardware, and software tools required to collect and interpret NMR spectra of small molecules and proteins (auto-graded quiz);
- Demonstrate appropriate sample assembly technique (two photographs of two different samples taken just prior to loading in instrumentation uploaded for a grade from instructor);
- Collect, interpret, and annotate a spectrum for their two model samples (with annotated spectra uploaded for grading by instructor).
Skill(s):
- Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
- Sample Preparation
- Spectral Analysis
