ARH 3400 - Medieval Art and Architecture3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: ARH 2750. This course is a survey of medieval art and architecture in Europe and the eastern Mediterranean, from the fourth through fourteenth centuries. It examines a range of media within their social, political, and intellectual contexts, and it discusses such issues as the interaction among the visual cultures of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam; the art of the Crusades; the relationship between word and image; pilgrimage and monasticism; urban development; and gender, ethnicity, and social status.
