HIST 4442 - History of Religious Tolerance3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: HIST 1110. This course traces the origins of the concept of tolerance of the religious “other,” with a focus of content on medieval and Early Modern Europe. Besides the historical exploration of the topic and an examination of the emergence and development of the idea of religious toleration against a background of persecution and wars of religion, students also examine and discuss philosophical and practical aspects of religious tolerance today.
