ECE 3540 - Health, Wellness, and the Young Child3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: Admission to the Teaching Education Program. This course is designed to provide teacher candidates with opportunities to understand the importance of a healthy and safe environment for young children. Issues include infectious disease control, injury and accident prevention, chronic health care conditions and illnesses, child abuse and neglect, and proper meal planning and nutrition. Upon successful completion of this course, teacher candidates will be awarded certification in Basic First Aid and CPR for infants and young children.
