CS 3510 - Computer Organization, Architecture, and Communications3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: A grade of “C” or better in CS 2302. An introduction to the theory and fundamentals of computer architecture and data communications. Computer organization topics include: data representation, binary arithmetic, and numbering systems. Computer architecture topics include Boolean algebra, logic gates, digital components, combinational and sequential circuits, circuit design, CPU basics, internal architecture, microcode, RISC, pipelines, cache, assembly language, instruction sets, memory organization and addressing, interrupts, multi-core architectures. Data communications topics include: data encoding, signaling, transmission, communication media, encoding, multiplexing, bus control, and arbitration.
