AMST 3750 - Place in American Culture3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: ENGL 1102. This course offers a thematic study of the cultural, social, and economic patterns of American places using texts and methods from a variety of disciplines such as history, literature, and sociology. Employing the techniques of critical reading and historical analysis, students interrogate texts ranging from contemporary prize-winning novels, film and media representations, to primary historical documents to gain a fuller understanding of both the place studied and the significance of “place” in culture.
Notes: Course may be repeated for credit provided the content differs entirely from the previous offering.
