Program Description

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Game Design and Development equips students and graduates with the skills and knowledge to apply computing and software engineering techniques to the design and production of digital media for entertainment, research, and education. As a specialization within the field of computing, game design and development builds on and applies expertise in computing hardware and software to create engaging and immersive multimedia systems.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete this program will be able to: 

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.

 

 This program is a part of the College of Computing and Software Engineering .

Admissions Criteria

Admission to this program is open to all students who meet Kennesaw State University’s general admission standards. Visit the Admissions  section of the Catalog for more details.

Enrollment Criteria

This program does not have specific enrollment criteria; however, students are expected to meet the requirements of Academic Policy 4.0 ACADEMIC STANDING, DISMISSAL, & REINSTATEMENT .

Graduation Criteria

Each student is expected to meet the requirements outlined in Academic Policy 5.0 PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS & GRADUATION

Students should take MATH 1113  or higher in Mathematics & Quantitative Skills and MATH 1179  or higher in Applied Math. Other options are available, please see an advisor for details; however, selection of other options in IMPACTS may lengthen time to graduation.

Select 9 credit hours of 3000-4000 level coursework from the University Catalog. Please see an advisor for course selection. In accordance with KSU Graduation Policy, students must earn a grade of “D” or better in these courses while maintaining a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA. *Note: Students are encouraged to consider Special Topics, Internships, and/or Directed Studies courses from the following list of courses:
