This program of study, leading to a Bachelor of Science degree, is designed to meet growing national, regional, and state needs in different areas of biotechnology. Requirements for this degree are designed to provide graduates with a solid conceptual foundation from multiple disciplines as well as practical laboratory skills. However, completion of this degree will also result in the graduate having sufficient basic scientific knowledge to pursue advanced graduate or professional degrees. This program also includes the Cytogenetics track, which is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS: www.naacls.org; 773-714-8880; 5600 North River Road, Suite 720, Rosemont, Illinois 60018-5156).
