The B.S. in Middle Grades Education is designed to prepare effective teachers for learners in the middle grades (grades 4 through 8), and leads to 4-8 teacher certification in Georgia. Candidates prepare in two of the five middle grades teaching fields (language arts, mathematics, reading, science, or social studies). The program is accredited by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and nationally recognized by the Associate of Middle Level Education. The B.S. in Middle Grades Education is designed to ensure that teacher candidates understand the developmental needs of middle level learners and use that background to design, deliver, and assess developmentally appropriate instruction for all of their students. Please see the Bagwell College of Education and PTEU page for policies relevant to all education programs.
