PSYC 4403: Directed Study: Independent Research Project

1-3 Credit Hours

Prerequisite: PSYC 2500 , and PSYC 3000 , and approval of the instructor, and approval of the department chair, and minimum GPA of 3.00.
Description:
This directed study offers students hands-on experience conducting a research project in the field of psychology. Under the guidance of a faculty member, students formulate research questions and hypotheses, apply appropriate methodologies, collect and analyze data, and communicate findings.


Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  1. Develop a clear research question and hypothesis, selecting an appropriate research design and methodology to address the question.
  2. Collect and/or manage data using relevant techniques and analyze results using appropriate statistical or qualitative methods.
  3. Adhere to ethical guidelines in the design, execution, and reporting of research, ensuring the ethical treatment of participants and/or animal subjects.
  4. Communicate research findings effectively.
