ANIM 3640: Character Development

3 Credit Hours


Prerequisite: (ART 2550  or ANIM 1550 ) and ART 3150  
Description:
Students will apply their drawing skills and knowledge of the figure to create original characters designed for applied 2D animation techniques.


Course Learning Outcomes
This course is studio-based with multiple projects that will measure student capability to create three distinct original characters for animation production and illustration purposes.

Topics to be discussed are:

  1. Quick sketch gesture drawing
  2. Using silhouettes for character development
  3. Creating character turnaround sheets
  4. Creating action pose sheets
  5. Breaking a character down for animation
  6. Creating a simple animation with a character
