MUTC 2200: Music Theory II 2 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: MUTC 2100 Description: A continuation of correlated study of rhythmic, melodic and harmonic aspects of music common practice. Continuation of keyboard harmony is included with application at the keyboard. Components include composition, improvisation and practical keyboard applications.
Course Learning Outcomes Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Identify and notate all intervals, triads, and seventh chords used in diatonic music
- Analyze common-practice music using Roman numerals
- Compose music using Tonic, Subdominant, Dominant, and applied dominant chords
- Analyze and compose phrases (including sentences) and periods (including antecedents and consequents)
- Compose and perform original compositions in class
