BUSA 1000: Introduction to Business

Description:
This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the core functions of business within an organizational context, including accounting, finance, economics, management, entrepreneurship, marketing, information systems, and cybersecurity. Students explore how these disciplines interconnect to support and drive organizational strategy. In addition, the course offers a deep dive into the diverse career opportunities offered by different academic pathways in the Coles College of Business. Emphasis is also placed on building essential career readiness and professional skills to prepare students for success in the business world.


Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: 

  1. Identify the various business functions at an organization, including accounting, finance, economics, management, entrepreneurship, marketing, information systems, and cybersecurity.
  2. Analyze how the various business functions work together to support the organization’s strategy.
  3. Distinguish between the academic disciplines at Coles College and explore the associated careers.
  4. Develop career readiness and professionalism skills.
