ACCT 3300: Accounting Information Systems

3 Credit Hours

Prerequisite: Minimum GPA of 2.0 and (admission to the Coles College Undergraduate Professional Program or student in a Coles College Partner Program that includes this course).
Concurrent: ACCT 3100 
Description:
A continuation of accounting transaction processing concepts; internal controls and systems analysis and design.


Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of appropriate accounting controls, and their importance in the ability to provide useful information to users in the decision-making process.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and application of relevant technologies used in accounting processes.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to analyze and evaluate decision alternatives and compare and contrast them to reach a defensible solution (i.e., critical thinking skills)
  4. Demonstrate the effective use of technology in the course of preparing and disseminating decision-useful accounting information.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to communicate useful accounting information to stakeholders in a written, oral, graphic, an/or interpersonal format that can influence decision-making.
  6. Demonstrate professional collaboration in a team or group environment.
