ACCT 2102: Principles of Accounting II

3 Credit Hours

Prerequisite: ACCT 2101 
Description:
A study of the underlying theory and application of managerial accounting concepts.


Notes: Exams are held at locations and times other than normal class meeting times. Students will receive an email during the registration period from the department with the date and time of the exams. 


Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: 

  1. Differentiate between managerial and financial accounting.
  2. Identify and summarize different types of costs within an organization and calculate the costs for producing goods and services.
  3. Describe objectives of business planning and control and construct a Master Budget through the application of the budgeting process.
  4. Evaluate and assess the effects of cost behavior and volume on profitability.
  5. Identify relevant information and evaluate the quantitative and qualitative factors to make informed business decisions.
  6. Apply and explain different techniques for performance measurement and evaluation.
  7. Describe the impact of the time value of money and apply the methods for making capital investment decisions.
  8. Differentiate between absorption and variable costing; apply the contribution margin approach to segment reporting.
