ECE 7514: Introduction to Technology, Curriculum Design, and Assessment

3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: Admission to the Teaching, MAT with a concentration in Elementary Education.
Candidates consider curriculum and assessment possibilities in the elementary classroom utilizing backward design, exploring developmentally appropriate digital tools, and applying constructivist theory and practice to positively impact classroom teaching and student learning.

Course Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  1. Develop lesson plans and assessments that demonstrate understanding of curriculum alignment to state and national standards technology 
  2. Develop unit plans that demonstrate understanding of successful arts and technology integration in P-5 classrooms. 
  3. Demonstrate the ability to assess strategies for incorporating technology and arts in P-5 classrooms. 
  4. Reflect critically upon data as part of a recursive process when planning, implementing, and assessing evidence of effective teaching, learning, and development. 
  5. Engage in discussions on technological issues in education and communicate knowledge of the issue and topic through effective writing and digital communication. 
  6. Understand and discuss the role of technology in teaching and learning.
