WRIT 3000: Understanding Creative Writing Genres 3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: ENGL 1102 This course is a multi-genre creative writing survey incorporating the study of three genres from the following list: short fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, playwriting, and screenplay writing. Pairing creativity with technique, this content-based course introduces students to concepts, approaches, and methods. As students develop a portfolio of work, they learn to contextualize their own writing with writings from celebrated authors by completing short critical commentaries. This course introduces students to the workshop format.
