EDUC 3110: Introduction to Urban Education 3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: Admission to the Teacher Education program. This course helps teacher candidates to 1) examine the relationship between the urban context and educational policies and practices in urban schools; 2) examine categories of race, ethnicity, class, gender, language, religion, sexuality, and ability as social relations of power that impact urban school experiences; and 3) examine the impact of the urban context on students, teachers, parents, and the community. An intensive 35-hour field component is a requirement of this course.
