ECE 4535: Methods of Instruction and Identification of B-5 Children with Special Needs

3 Credit Hours

Prerequisite: Admission into Teacher Education
This course is designed to assist teacher candidates in preparing environments to meet the needs of children from different cultural and ability backgrounds with cognitive developmental delays, medical conditions,  social, language and emotional differences. Legal issues and terms involving preschool special education will be addressed. Curriculum modification and environmental accommodations for children with special needs will be reviewed. Assessment techniques and the role of service providers will be discussed. This course will include a 15-hour field experience.
