ARH 3350: Greek Art and Architecture 3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: ARH 2750 and ENGL 1102 This course is a survey of ancient Greek visual culture through the Hellenistic period. It examines a range of media in their social, political, and intellectual contexts, exploring such issues as connoisseurship; portraiture; commemorative art; architecture and urban development; cross-cultural exchange; gender, ethnicity, and identity; and ancient art history and criticism. It incorporates new archaeological discoveries as much as possible, and it encourages students to visit museums.
