CS 6501 - Fundamentals of Computer and Network Architecture (Online)

3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: Admissions to the MSACS Program.
A study of computer hardware and network components and devices.  The course explores, synergizes and focuses on underlying foundational topics relating to both computer architecture and data communications. Topics include communication media, encoding systems, data security and integrity, network topologies, data representation, binary arithmetic and numbering systems for computers and network systems, basic structure of computers, machine language, logic circuits, processing unit, memory systems, and input/output organization. This course’s credit hours do not count towards the MSACS degree’s 36 hour requirement.
