CRJU 7713:Family, Crime and Violence 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: Admission to the MSCJ program or permission of the program director A survey of major issues related to family relationships and criminal activity, including theoretical explanations for family violence and patterns of family violence in the United States, is undertaken. Also explored is how family relationships during childhood can affect long-term behavior. Furthermore, data, theoretical approaches, and current research about the ways in which family relationships relate to criminal involvement and victimization are analyzed. In doing so, the complex ways in which the family-crime - criminal justice connection is both a product of societal forces and affects broader social relations are examined.
