HIST 4503:Twilight of Antiquity3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: Must have earned 45 credit hours. This is an upper-level history course on the final phase of the ancient Roman empire and the transition from antiquity to the early Middle Ages (c. 200 - 600 AD). Major topics include the fall of the western half of the empire, the survival of the East, the rise of new barbarian kingdoms, and the Christianization of the Roman world.
